Last of the Summer Sun!

Good morning everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. We wanted to take it easy this weekend as we are heading away on holidays on Saturday so we headed down to Kildare as it is always such as nice escape and a change from Dublin. I must admit I was a little jealous of everyone at Electric Picnic but as the saying goes, you can't do everything! As the sun decided to show its face again I threw on this Summery outfit. This little white bench and gorgeous tree was the perfect backdrop for the outfit.

WE WENT TO THE ZOO!

It is the weekend again and because I have been on a shoot this week I am only getting around to putting up this post now. Sunday is one of those days I love to relax and just enjoy, one of the usual things we do is go for brunch is Sunday was different, we were off to the zoo!Oh the excitement of this, I couldn't wait to see the much hyped baby giraffes and elephants and we had our fingers and toes crossed that the dark clouds would disappear and we would escape the rain.My memories of the zoo are from circa 1998 when there was a flurry of birthday parties and being honest I haven't been back since.

Sunday Roast on a Friday - Woollen Mills

This week again has been a bit mad and I am slower on getting around to putting up my posts. I love to share a new restaurant with friends once I have tried and tested it myself. We tried out the Woollen Mills for dinner nearly two weeks ago and it has taken me this long to get the post up! Even though I had heard it was good I was a little skeptical, I always am when I am trying new places as there is nothing worse than having to pay for food you were not happy with. On arrival I loved the vibe of the place, very cool interior and it was jammers which is always a great sign. We ordered and elderflower G&T to start, a combination I hadn't seen on a cocktail menu before.

I had heard good things about the crab claws and they also came as a recommendation from one of the girls in the restaurant so we decided to give them a shot. They were delicious, every other time I have had crab claws they have been paired up with the trusty garlic butter so this was a nice change. The only thing is my nails were yellow after so I wouldn't recommend going for a mani earlier that day!

It is beginning to feel like Winter and it is so funny how your appetite changes and you just want comforting food. We ordered the whole chicken between the two of us, I loved how it came to the table in the roasting dish, it was the feeling of home without having to do the work yourself.

It came with a side of homemade yummy stuffing and rich and luscious gravy. I think if I had to pick my last meal a Sunday roast would definitely be top of my list!

By the time we got home it was dark, Winter really is setting in so apologies for the dark pictures but I loved this casual outfit. Jeans, blazer and a chic clutch, you can't go wrong. I will definitely be back to the Woollen Mills so if that's not a good recommendation, I don't know what is.

I hope you guys have a great say, thanks for reading.

A MUST TRY FOR FOODIES!

I am always looking to try new places and Pichet was one restaurant that has been around for a while but I hadn't had chance to try it for myself. It is a Bib Gourmand restaurant which is something I have been looking out for more and more over the last year or so. We headed there last week for a little date night, it was one of those weeks we had hardly seen each other and there is nothing I like better than a catch up with Mr and food! We started the evening off with a little cocktail. I had ordered the Pichet 75 which is a mix of gin and champagne but when the pink drink came out we decided to swap ;)!

A Movie Amongst the Trees

Morning all and happy Monday! I had a great weekend and hope you did too! I find doing something on a Thursday makes the weekend feel like it is that little bit longer. Last Thursday we packed up rugs, chairs, treats and homemade Baileys hot chocolate! We were fully prepared for the outdoor viewing of Dead Poets Society in Merrion Square. These outdoor movies have been happening all through the Summer and we eventually were prepared enough to go. This week was a tribute to Robin Williams so all of the movies on show he starred in. He was such a talent and I was so happy to be able to attend the screening and also give to Pieta House, a great charity. Anyway enough of that, you will see from the pictures we had so much fun, all huddling together to keep warm while sipping on the Baileys hot chocolate, what is better than that!

I can't tell you how delicious this hot chocolate was - we polished off both flasks and we were still looking for more!

Without coordinating our outfits it seemed we all arrived wearing black jeans!

Although are bums were numb and it wasn't as comfy as going to the cinema or being tucked up at home it was nice to do something different and enjoy one of Dublin's many squares.

I love this photo of the four of us Before the movie started we had a nice catch up and laughed like hyenas! Knowing each other so well seems to mean there are no boundaries on what can be said to each other which we like to think is a very good sign of friendship. If others heard us I would say they think we are all so blunt and slag each other non stop!

I hope this post helped with your Monday blues!

OOOOOhhhh we found some graffiti!

Happy hump day guys, this week I am one day ahead this is probably as a result of the four day week last week. I was out and about in town with a friend of mine at the weekend and we decided to take a few snaps. She is one of my oldest friends and is currently studying to become an architect. Given her love of all things architecture, she wanted to find a nice building as a backdrop for this post but we had no such luck. We came across this graffiti wall art and both thought it looked quite cool. This outfit is very casual and is a mix of old, very old, vintage and SS14 pieces. As we were going for a potter around town being comfortable was a big part of this outfit, especially the shoes!

The jeans are ancient and when I say ancient I mean they are probably 6 years old and they're still going strong. I love the colour of these and the turn up hem at the end and hadn't worn them in a long time so decided to give them a break from lying in the wardrobe.

This little jacket is one from Mango which my Mum had bought and has given to me, I love how it is that blazer type look but feels like a jumper, it is the perfect balance of stylish and comfortable. I love stripes and think that navy, denim and tan are the perfect outfit combination.

The bag is a vintage Paloma Picasso and it has lovely gold details and is perfect for wandering around town, especially as it is a cross body bag.

This ring is one I picked up in H&M and I absolutely love it, I cant tell you how many compliments I have gotten for this piece. I have  seriously thought about getting it copied and made in real gold so that it would last forever!

This outfit is a mix of everything and as it has been quite busy lately I haven't made it to the shops for a look around so it is nice to make a new outfit out of pieces I already had in the closet. All details of what I am wearing below.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog.

Love BB  xx

A Most Peculiar Afternoon Tea

This weekend I had a long overdue catch up with some of the girls. It is funny when you don't see friends for a while but it just goes back to exactly how it was and as if you saw each other yesterday. This is probably because we were all in school with each other from the young age of three, I think it is safe to say we still know each other pretty well and always have a great laugh!

We decided to meet in the Westin in Dublin for a spot of afternoon tea. This wasn't your traditional afternoon tea, it was different and this is what enticed me. It is possible to order from the traditional afternoon tea menu but we all opted to order from A Most Peculiar Afternoon Tea menu. The menu read so well and we all couldn't wait to tuck in and see how it would be presented.

It is very unusual for me to drink during the day apart from when I am on holidays but I really have grown fond of it. I know I have written a post on Hendricks High tea but seen as this was the full experience it would be a pity not to share it with you. There was a mix of savoury and sweet bites and it was all pretty delicious. The only comment I would have is that I would have liked a little more of a balance as the majority of the afternoon tea bites were deserts and although I have a sweet tooth I found it a little too much.

This was the prawn cocktail, a  Dublin Bay prawn served in a charcoal cone accompanied by marie rose sauce, it was really delicious.

I loved how the confit of pork cheek was served, the spoons were gorgeous and they were full of flavour.

The deserts were just so fun and oh my god delicious.  One of my favourites was definitely the Popcorn Panna Cotta with Caramel Crumble. I hadn't seen anything like this before and couldn't wait to try it. I wasn't disappointed and it was a clear favourite for the girls also.

The popping marshmallows were hilarious, we just couldn't stop laughing listening to the crackle and pop sounds leaving our mouths. Finally the chocolate and caramel sea salt brownie was a little piece of heaven, it was so rich so you really only needed that little square.

We had such an amazing time, plenty of laughs, lots of food and a few cups of the Victoria mojito ;)

I hope you have a great day and thanks for taking the time to read my blog.

It's Time for the Beach Beach

I love, love, love, the beach! I think it is probably one of my favourite places in the world, no matter where it is. I just find it so chilled and its usually pretty beautiful too! We decided to go for a walk as it was a little too windy for sunbathing and this beach is the best for a nice walk.I was also pretty excited to wear my new shorts which I purchased at the weekend so I threw them on and headed to the beach.

I was like a kid playing on the rocks but just loved the setting and did not want to leave.
