A Spot of Wild Goose

It is Friday and I am excited to be heading away for the weekend but wanted to share this post with you first. We have all experienced saying goodbye to a friend, whether they were traveling around the world for a year or moving for a job and although it is so common in Ireland it doesn't get any easier saying goodbye. Yes, it is fantastic that we all have mobiles and we are not depending on a pigeon to deliver a letter but whatsapp and skype are not quite the same as hanging out in person. A good friend of mine got offered the job of her dreams and although I didn't want to see her leave I was so excited for her. Now that is the end of my sappy post and onto the food. The week before she left we decided to grab a lunch together and have a proper catch up. The Wild Goose in Ranelagh is somewhere I have been for lunch and was very impressed with it. It is not michelin star, but that's not what it's aiming to be, it is good bistro food with attentive service and friendly staff. We decided to kick off our lunch with a glass of bubbly, it always adds something special to an occasion and we were celebrating after all!

We both opted for the Tempura of lemon Sole to start and it was very tasty. My only criticism is that it would be better served in a bowl plate as it wasn't all that easy to eat it from the bowl.

I was not missing the chance to have goose as it is a dish that you do not see all that often and of course it was only fitting to enjoy it will dining in the Wilde Goose Grill. My friend Nas opted for the chicken and there was clean plates all round.

Although we had no room for desert, I made sure to order one as a treat for us. This coconut tart was delicious and the passion fruit sorbet was the perfect accompaniment. It is a light and fluffy desert and was the perfect ending to our lunch.

The Wilde Goose is definitely worth a try, the Sunday lunch is such great value and it is perfect for any occasion. Have a great weekend ladies and gents.

Love BB xx
