A Trip to Forest Avenue

I have been hearing people ranting and raving about this place and wanted to see what it was all about. Forest Avenue is relatively new restaurant in Dublin which has established a great name for itself and is nearly as difficult to get a reservation as a top restaurant in London. On average booking a month in advance, which is really unheard of for Dublin, so it was definitely one on my hit list.

We booked for a Saturday night and arrived to a buzzy atmosphere although not as buzzy as I had expected. We were seated in the mezzanine which probably was the reason for this little lack in atmosphere. I like to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle and being in the mezzanine means you feel a little removed but then again it could be perfect if you wanted a little more privacy. I have to admit that this was mentioned to us on the phone so it was no surprise we were up there but it did lack a little, now I mean only a little. I was excited to see the menu and place our order but was even more excited when were told that there were little tasters on the way.

Each one arrived and was welcomed with open arms!

These were divine and the perfect size. Each one was packed full of taste!

This apple crisp filled with foie gras was on of my favourites but that is probably due to the fact that I am a foie gras fiend!

Now for the main....

Everyone opted for the fish apart from me - I went for the lamb but in the excitement of it all I realised I didn't take a picture until I had demolished it all, I know tut tut... but trust me it looked so good that it was worth it. I am just sorry I don't have a picture to share with you guys.

The desert didn't sound great on the menu but it was surprisingly delicious and light. It was a yoghurt mousse with spiced bread, mandarin and pistachio and sorbet. A mandarin sorbet is something you wouldn't expect in the depths of Winter but it was a pleasant surprise along with the shavings of white chocolate to finish it off.

Forest avenue is definitely one to try and I must admit I am trying brunch this weekend and I am very excited, so I will let you know how I get on.

Love BB xx
