An Old Spot But a Good Spot!

You know when you leave a restaurant and you are still thinking about the meal you just had, well that is when it has been a success. The Old Spot is a gastropub in Dublin 4 which is stylish, yet casual. We started with two sizeable G&Ts, Hendricks with cracked black pepper, served in what can only be referred to as Pimp cups or Goblets.

As we read through the menu while chatting you couldn't help but notice the buzz in the place. It is afterall located close to Silicone Docks and was packed with Googlers and Facebookers. The maƮtre d'was a character and was extremely attentive without being annoying, I really think there is a fine balance in achieving this type of service.

First up was the scallops, served with fennel and pink grapefruit. I Loved the presentation but it lacked in substance. The portion was a little small and the flavour didn't blow me away.

We all decided to go for the pressed lamb shoulder for mains and was delicious. It was melt in your mouth kind of stuff and the wild garlic pesto was sensational. It came with onion puree and baby potatoes. This was one of the best dishes I have had in Dublin in a while.

We were filled to the brim so skipped desert, I was also thinking in the back of my head that I will be in a bikini in a few days so I steered clear of anything sweet.

I have to say I loved the feel of this place and will be returning albeit not ordering the scallops.

Have a great week.

Love BB xx
