Homemade Basil & Garlic Pesto

I swear this is stuff you will get up in the middle of the night for. I have always been an avid fan of pesto and it has been something I wanted to make for ages. Although I knew what all of the ingredients were I only decided to make my own version this weekend.

This is the perfect item to have in your fridge if you are having friends coming, or just want to eat yourself. Equally it is a gorgeous gift to bring to someones house. 

Olive oil
Fresh Basil
Salt & Pepper for seasoning
Roasted pine nuts
2 large bulbs of garlic (can use more if you are a garlic fiend like me)

The biggest thing about this recipe is that the ingredients need to be good, in fact with all meals the ingredients makes the dish. I used fresh basil from the garden, good quality olive oil and roasted the pine nuts slowly.

I used 3 bulbs of garlic as I like that strong kick it gives you the pesto.

After that it is as simple as getting everything into the blender or if you feel like a workout you can use the Pestal & Morter and mix and taste until your happy.

I decided to dress mine and put it in a cute jar with a bow.

We of course tucked into some ourselves also, paired it with fresh brown bread....

This is so easy to make you have to try it!
