The Davenport Afternoon Tea!

It seems to be an experience on repeat but what can I say I love afternoon tea and I just cant say no. You are probably thinking does this girl do anything else and the answer is yes - although it doesn't look like it. For the sake of my waistline I am going to have to abstain or else I think I may become an Afternoon Tea specialist as I am getting to experience it in quite a few places both here and abroad.
Since Mothers Day is just around the corner I had to include a post as I think it is the perfect thing to do with your Mum.
I tried the Davenport Hotel this weekend, it is based just off Merrion Square in Dublin and their Afternoon Tea is very good value.
The hotel is not an über trendy spot in fact it is quite traditional but the exterior is very impressive. I was surprised with the food, this is a new offering for them so I was happy to be guinea pig and really enjoyed it.
We had loose green leaf tea and worked our way up the tower of goodies. Starting with the savoury we tucked into the sandwiches then moving onto the middle tier. The scones came out warm and perfectly crunchy on the outside.
I particularly liked the personalised butter cover which had the façade of the building on it - this was such a nice touch. The lemon drizzle cake was divine!
We struggled to get to the top but needs must and all of that. I particularly loved the chocolate tart, the mango panacotta and the strawberry shortbread. But I think the homemade shortbread with strawberry mousse was the winner for me.

I hope you all have something nice planned for your Mums or special ladies in your life.

Have a great week.

Love Keva xx
