Navy on Navy

You may have seen I was at the Littlewoods V by Very launch last Tuesday and was only delighted to be dressed for the night by the team. When shopping for an entire outfit online it can be a little daunting, not sure of sizing and how it will all come together I was hopeful it would work out. I wanted a casual look with a touch of glam and I think we succeeded in achieving that.
I went with a navy on navy look but added a white cami and silver accessories to dress it up and add a feminine touch.

Bow Shirt

I hope everyone has well and truly recovered from the visit of Storm Doris - all I can say is that it is March next week and about time the wellies and Winter coats are put away. Can you tell I prefer the Summer months.

Pay Day Wishlist!

Is it just me or did February seem like a long month, maybe its because we all got overly excited and lived like Kings & Queens when January came to an end but in any case my little wishlist has been accumulating over the last few weeks so I thought I would share whats in my basket. Now be warned some of these pieces are divine and they will stay in my basket until it is time for a big treat but there are loads of little bargains as well.

Athleisure

There are those days you are running errands and want to be comfy and just wear your trainers and your yoga/gym pants. We have all seen the yummy mummys doing this for years and it has been a running joke in Ireland that more girls wear workout gear going for a coffee then actually going to the gym and now there is a whole new wave of acceptability of this due to the term "Athleisure" and I for one am loving it.

My Breakfast on the Go!

I wouldn't say I am a morning person and like most, I will grab a few more minutes in bed rather than having a lesiurely breakfast before heading to work. These types of breakfasts are reserved for the weekend when it's how I usually like to spend my relaxing Saturday and Sunday. So how do I get that important meal of the day into my routine. My walk to work means I pass a lot of places with a good bit of choice but since having to live a dairy free life and realising what I was spending on my little morning pit stops I needed to come up with an alternative. I started making my own coffee (with Almond milk) and breakfast to go, I did get a Nespresso at the end of last year after all so I might as well make use of it.My smoothie is so simple and it is a throw it all in at once type of recipe.

Ingredients
1 x Banana

Teaspoon Cinnamon
4 xPitted Medjool Dates
1 cup Almond Milk
Ice (I like mine served cold)
1 tbp Oats (optional)
You can add a scoop of vanilla protein (optional)
Throw it all into the Nutribullet and use a nice glass bottle for serving - I usually hold onto any juice bottles we have during the weekend so I can use them during the week. It makes getting it to work much easier and it also looks more appetizing. This is a full proof start to the day and if you have been to the gym you could add a scoop of vanilla protein.

Have a great weekend.

Cactus Love

Back in work today after a few days off that we really enjoyed, the gym will be tough this week but it will have to be done to counterbalance the food that was consumed but when you are on your holidays you need to enjoy yourself. I didn't realise how much we needed the break but it was so nice to just take some time to ourselves. It is so easy to get caught up in work and not put as much time aside for your significant other, especially when you live together.
I am finding it has been particularly mad for us over the last number of months so it was nice having that time. It is really important to switch off every now and then so you will have noticed I wasn't doing any to camera pieces on instastories while we were away. On Monday we strolled down the promenade, this is one of my favourite things to do in Marbella. It is so relaxing and I can't go to Spain without getting that walk in. Strolling along the beach, which is lined with palm trees is my idea of heaven. We tend to take different routes to explore new places we haven't been before.

Pink Pastels!

Although the weather in Ireland is currently not in our favour I don't think it is too soon for pastels, we can slowly introduce them into our day to day outfits and if this isn't the week to be wearing pink then I don't know when is. Pink is a huge hit for Spring/Summer 2017 and I am so happy that's the case, I will be wearing everything from bright pink to more muted tones over the coming months.

I have included the direct links below but you can also click on the images and scan through that. I also included a few additional bits I have my eye on.

Why I Started Blogging?

Today's post is definitely one of the most personal so far and it's one that has been brewing for a while, so I thought it was about time I shared it. It is a question that I probably should have answered a while back so without further adieu the reason behind the inception of the blog was that I wanted to change up my career and delve more into the fashion world. I had loads of experience in advertising / marketing / branding but very little with fashion or beauty brands. I also thought I wanted to work in magazines whether that was in a digital capacity or the more traditional area and I had no business applying for jobs without a portfolio of some kind, hence Blunt Blonde Blog was born.
Furthermore, I love creating brands and I have done this in my day job so I thought why wouldn't I do it for myself. For some people I was the last person they expected to do this, some were surprised and not very supportive and others were super supportive so you have to take the good with the bad. Put it this way I don't get a lot of hate mail or negative comments but I know people pass comments and everyone has the right to their opinion. Truth be told I was a bit of a tomboy when I was younger and really only got into clothes when I went to college so I was a bit of a late bloomer so I get why they were surprised.

Statement Jeans

The star obsession is as strong as ever and when I saw these jeans I couldn't pass them up, especially as they were on sale. Boyfriend jeans are not a style I usually go for, I don't ever think they do a lot for me I am petite and think they are better suited to the taller ladies but I said I would try these ones and to my surprise I really liked them.
I wanted to wear a casual but put together look and I think the combination of ripped jeans, a blazer and tee is always a fail safe outfit.

Why It is Ok to Still Wear Black in Spring

Guys I have been in a good mood for the past few days, I think it is because the end of January is here and the beginning of Spring but we have been especially giddy. I am still clearly wearing ALOT of black but that's ok because it is timeless. One of my favourite quotes is...
"Fashion is What You Buy, Style is What You Do With It"
I was only talking to the girls about this the other day, take something simple and timeless like a white shirt and give it to a group of your friends, then give them the challenge of putting together an outfit with that piece and I can guarantee you that each and every single person will come back with a completely different look and I love that. I do think the style in Ireland has really changed over the last number of years and I think everyone can express themselves, their mood etc through fashion.
