LA // Part One

Happy Hump Day lovelies, It is nice to be back to a routine and posting here again. It does take a while to settle back in and now that the apartment is back to normal I feel like it is home again. As you know from my Instagram, Hurricane Irma meant we had an unexpected visit to LA. Although I was working while I was there the time difference from the West Coast to the East Coast meant I started my day earlier (usually calls from 6.30am) but finished in the afternoon. This left the evenings for exploring LA and trying out some spots on my list.
An Iced coffee is something I pretty much have everyday but because we hit up Carrera Cafe I wasn't going to turn down the opportunity for some cool coffee art, after all thats why we went there.
Although you would think it was planned we actually stumbled across the infamous pink wall and although not an original backdrop I still love it so we took some shots in front of it.
This little playsuit is one I picked up in a store on Abbot Kinney, packing in a panic really meant I did not have enough clothes especially since we were there longer than expected so I may have purchased one or two items. I love the ruffle detail and you know my feelings on stripes. I have linked loads of similar ones here.

I always like trying out new coffee spots so I have shared some of my most loved ones from my recent visit.

Current Favorite Coffee Spots LA
1. Carrera Cafe
2. Alfred Coffee
3. Blue Bottle
4. The Butchers Daughter

The Unexpected

Happy Friday lovelies, it has been a while since I last posted as I was caught up in Hurricane Irma and all that went with it in Miami over the last two weeks. The panic set in last Tuesday when I went into the office and everyone was booking flights out of Miami and telling me to do the same, it was one of the most stressful days that I have had trying to sort both myself and my brother out as I live in a flood zone. We continuously tried to get flights but were unsuccessful over and over. By some luck we got a flight to LA very late on Tuesday night after a full day of wishing and hoping. After all of the stress, we had an unexpected trip to the West Coast where thankfully we had refuge with my Aunt and Uncle. Today we return to Miami and I am both anxious and looking forward to getting back, which I know is contradictory, but I guess I am having mixed feelings. The devastation we have seen occur in the Sunshine State has been shocking and a reminder that we never know whats happening but whatever unexpected events that are thrown at you, you will always be able to find a way to deal with them.

I am thankful we are all safe but conscious so many peoples homes are destroyed. In such a short amount of time, which really felt like forever, everyone tried to prepare as best as possible but there really is no stopping Mother Nature. These photos were taken on South Beach before we knew what was coming our way. I am looking forward to getting back and sitting on this beach again and have a new appreciation for dealing with the unexpected and know that although it is sometimes hard to see, there is usually a silver lining.
Have a great weekend and thank you to all who were continuously checking in on us, both new and old friends.

Miami Update

Happy Friday lovelies, this week seems like it has been a long week but it is Friday and I couldn't be happier that the weekend is here. I have 3 days off as it is Labour day on Monday and who doesn't like a three day weekend! You all know at this stage I have my brother visiting tonight, he arrives late this evening and I can't wait for him to get here (I know I have said that a thousand times) but we are very close so moving away has meant I don't get to see him, the rest of my family, boyfriend or friends as much as I used to. So you ask why are you in Miami? So instead of going into a whole lot of detail which no one cares to hear I wanted to give you a all bit of an update on all things Miami. I moved to Miami as I got an opportunity to work in-house for Bacardi which was an amazing opportunity work wise, but living in the states was always a dream of mine so for me it was a no brainer, I had to give it a shot.
So many people think I just have the blog but no the blog is secondary to my day job and I can squeeze a lot into my days and make the time work for me and continue working on the blog alongside a busy day to day. The Bacardi main office is here in Miami so that is why I am located here and I work across a number of liquor brands which Bacardi owns and I am loving it. With my job I am getting to travel across North America, most recently I was in Boston and next up I will be in New York and Austin. I mist say, that although I love to travel it can also be tiring when you have trips back to back so it is nice being in Miami for a few weeks. I definitely feel like I have settled in well to Miami life but I definitely have days that you miss your loved ones - it would be weird if I didn't but I know I made the right decision moving.
I have a jam packed few weeks with visitors (I may need to start taking formal bookings) and work trips so time is really flying by.I will be playing tourist this weekend so keep your eyes peeled on my Instagram and I promise to do a post on my top haunts and activities to do if you are visiting Miami.
